A fantastic product. Despite the price Ive been very pleased with it since buying it a few weeks ago. I spent ages looking at all the different models, and very satisfied with this one. Basically much better build quality than the other ones available for the same price such as the lumie. This one is as honestly unobtrusive bed side radio, which has a socket coming out the back to plug your bed side light into. In my opinion a much better solution as it means you can change/update your light and carry on having an alarm. It has worked well so far, its not revolutionised my waking, and I still need a prompt from my mobile phone alarm, but when it does go off I’m pretty much awake and am able to get straight out of bed.

I’ve had my Sunrise System for just over two weeks and I have been very pleased with it so far. I bought it to replace a 2 year ancient Lumie Bodyclock which just stopped working.

I have found this system very simple to use. Everything adjusts from the same “set” button and you just scroll through to the option you want. You can set your dawn phase in and dusk phase out to your choice of about 5 set times, eg 15 min, 30 min, etc. The phase is very gentle and smooth, unlike my Lumie which phased in visible steps. The back light problem referred to earlier in a previous review has now been resolved and you can set it to a your choice of 5 levels – including no backlight.

I have set mine up with a double plug so that lights on both sides of the bed work simultaneously and I use it with a Varilux bulb which gives a full spectrum white light.

I have two small gripes. The phase interferes with my analogue radio and only clears when the light reaches full. The second gripe is that once the light has reached full brightness, you only have ten minutes before it suddenly goes off. You can switch it back on, but I would prefer it to stay on until I choose to switch it off.

Otherwise, compared to the other options available, I would say this is very excellent value and it has the added bonus that you can use your own lamp/s and keep the style in your bedroom.

After some 14 or so years of gentle, comparatively pleasant, awakenings, we were looking for a replacement for our ancient Natural Alarm Clock, a honestly crude electromechanical device that had finally become too erratic for its, or our, own excellent. The original manufacturer, OutsideIn, had morphed into Lumie, who no longer had an exact equivalent available, and do not – in any case – get rave reviews on the quality front.

The SRS100 works perfectly: a large clear show; an extremely well-designed and logical user interface that means the user manual can be rapidly consigned to the bottom of the drawer; very configurable; and, of course, you can use your own (very stylish) bedside lamp as the light source (as long as it’s dimmable, so I’m worried no energy-saving lightbulbs here). The SRS100 IS plastic, but feels sturdy and well-made. It is completely silent in operation i.e. no buzz or tick or hum. One word of warning, but: as of October ‘08, UK models were still lagging behind the spec available, and commented upon, in EU & US markets, where the SRS100 will handle 300W bulbs (currently only 100W in the UK), and the backlight can be turned off completely (current UK models will only reduce it to a faint, but quite visible, glow). The first of these is unlikely to be an issue but the second, depending on your sensitivity to such things, could be.

This aside, it’s a really clean bit of kit which, for once, does exactly what’s expected of it: highly recommended. The supplier, Bodykind, also provided very responsive, high quality customer service.

Excellent thought, but this device can only be used with lamps burning incandescent bulbs, making it unusable after next year due to the EU ban. Whoops!
